How to plan AI video with sound in mind
Sound is often what turns an attractive moving image into a scene. Plan it from the physical world of the shot: surfaces, distance, weather, people, and the rhythm of movement.
List the physical causes
A scene at a coastal pier has different audio logic than an empty tiled station. Start by naming the material world: wood, water, glass, concrete, fabric, weather, or machinery.
This keeps sound design connected to the frame and helps you decide what should be loud, soft, close, or far away.
- Foreground: the sound nearest the camera.
- Midground: action inside the scene.
- Background: atmosphere that sets location and scale.
Make pacing audible
The rhythm of the sound should match the pace of the camera and action. A slow push-in benefits from sustained ambience; a sudden action needs a clear transition or impact.
Do not try to pack every possible sound into a five-second clip. Choose the one or two details a viewer should notice.
- Match sound changes to visual changes.
- Choose one hero sound when the shot is short.
- Leave space; silence can establish tension.
Prepare for responsible publication
Synthetic video and sound can be mistaken for real footage. Keep any available provenance information and disclose artificial generation where context or law requires it.
If a real person, voice, or branded material is involved, get the permissions you need before creating or publishing the work.
